Private lessons are currently available in
Great Yarmouth and
Wymondham. For students further afield, individually-tailored teaching packages may be arranged that combine distance learning with occasional face-to-face resumés.
Ian teaches all styles of modern guitar and specialises in composition and improvisation. He has many years experience of playing in rock bands and is used to working with students of all ages and abilities. He works in schools and colleges and therefore has a regularly updated CRB check certificate.
Students may choose to take LCM graded exams in modern playing (from preliminary to Grade 8 and Diploma levels). Various resources are made freely available to students preparing for examination.
Students progress at their own individual rates and therefore one-to-one lessons are normal and are recommended. However, parent-with-child lessons are also available. Not only may parents sit in on on their child's lesson but they are also freely welcome to take part (often utilised as an occasional extra to one-to-one)! This allows for dual practice at home where either the adult or child can improvise against the other one playing rhythm. This is an excellent way to practice, particularly in preparation for LCM exams, (and it is an equally excellent way to bond)!
In addition to his own performance experience (and PhD research), Ian has taught various performance based modules for GYC and UCS and is available for general performance and band tuition. If your son or daughter plays in a band that could benefit from general help or advice, please feel free ask.
Gift vouchers for individual or multiple guitar lessons may be arranged (subject to availability).
